Lethbridge & District Exhibition Lotteries Partners to Support Lethbridge Family Services

Southern Alberta’s premier lotteries program gives Albertans the chance to win big, as the Lethbridge & District Exhibition 50/50 Lottery begins its third year. This year proceeds from the program will benefit both Lethbridge & District Exhibition (LDE) programming and Lethbridge Family Services (LFS), who have signed on as the program’s 2024 community partner.

Created to celebrate LDE’s 125th anniversary, the lotteries program celebrates LDE’s rich history in the community. Last year, the program raised more than $84,000, with 50 percent of the total proceeds going to the lottery winner and the other 50 percent supporting community initiatives. Tickets are available for purchase online at ldelotteries.com any time, or in person at the Saturday Lethbridge Farmers’ Market presented by UFA and at Whoop-Up Days.

“The 50/50 Lottery is a key connection point in our community, as we are able to support our programming, give back to our community partner, and give ticket buyers the chance to win big,” says Paul Kingsmith, Director of Community Engagement, LDE. “We are thrilled to have Lethbridge Family Services join us as our charitable partner. Their work in our community touches so many people and makes our city a better place, and we are excited for the enthusiasm they’ll bring to this year’s campaign.”

Lethbridge Family Services provides highly-accredited health and social services to over 9,000 individuals and families in more than 30 communities in southwestern Alberta, through the professional services of more than 380 staff, and the support of over 550 committed volunteers. Its core departments include Counselling, Outreach & Education; DaCapo Disability Services; Home Services; and Immigrant Services. LFS volunteers will be on-site to sell tickets at the Saturday Lethbridge Farmer’s Market every Saturday through August 17, as well as throughout Whoop-Up Days. Those interested in volunteering can sign up at volunteersignup.org/FHJ8K.

“Lethbridge Family Services is grateful to partner with Lethbridge District Exhibition. Through initiatives like the 50/50 lottery, we can direct funds raised to important LFS programs such as Angel Tree and Immigrant Services,” says Sandra Mintz, Chief Executive Officer at LFS. “Forming partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and institutions is essential for nonprofits. These collaborations pool resources and expertise, making community projects more successful and impactful. We believe that supporting each other strengthens the community fabric and significantly enhances community well-being. Thank you to the LDE and their team for their hard work and the volunteers working with us to make this lottery a success.”

Tickets for the LDE 50/50 Lottery are on sale now at ldelotteries.com and will be available through August 24, the final day of Whoop-Up Days. The winner will be selected on August 27. A single ticket can be purchased for $10; or they can be purchased in packages of 5 for $25 ($5 each), 25 for $50 ($2 each), 50 for $75 ($1.50 each) or 100 for $100 ($1 each).
