Family and Couples Counselling

Family Counselling

Family counselling is a type of group counselling that has the intention of having a counsellor assist the family unit through their unbiased support. This type of counselling is provided at Lethbridge Family Services through our Families Thriving Together Program.

Counselling can support your family:

  • Gather a better understanding and awareness of each family member’s feelings, perspectives, and behaviors

  • Create an environment where everyone feels motivated to talk and listen to each other respectfully

  • Promote working together to create and sustain healthy relationships amongst family members through the creation of effective boundaries and functional roles

  • Establish and work towards goal achievement

Families Thriving Together Program

This family systems approach is based on a three-component, sequential process that supports each family member separately and together. Using Emotional Focused Family Therapy to minimize risk factors and adverse experiences while simultaneously supporting children’s emotional and social needs and increasing the parents’ skills and knowledge of both their children’s and their own struggles.
